THE PLAYGROUND IS NOW OPEN FOR PLAY! (as of August 1, 2014)

The construction has been completed and the fences removed. The playground is now open for play! If this first opening weekend has been any indication, the children love it! Never have more squeals of delight and giggles been heard in one place.

Please enjoy but be careful of the grass sod, which is still delicate and needs to take root.

Thanks for your patience - we all look forward to seeing all the joy and laughter the new playground will bring.

The Collingwood School Playground Team

The Playground Team, a subcommittee of Collingwood School Parent Association, is comprised of a group of volunteers, which include parents and community members. The Team's mandate is to bring together the resources needed to develop and build a new playground at Escuela Collingwood School. This website has been designed to tell you about our on-going plans and initiatives in this regard and to garner community support and fundraising for this important project. Thanks for visiting!

Why a New Playground?

The existing playground at Escuela Collingwood School is nearing the end of its lifecycle and is currently scheduled to be dismantled by the end of 2014. A new playground is needed to allow children the necessary space to play and continue to build new friendships. Unfortunately, the cost of a new playground is not covered by the Calgary Board of Education or school budget.

How Can I Help?

A playground is a huge undertaking, requiring volunteers for organization, participation in our fundraising events, and both cash and in-kind donations.

Our goal is to raise approximately $298,000 to replace the existing playground structure and to revitalize the school grounds. We are fortunate that much of this will be covered by government, community and corporate grants, but the on-going support of individuals in the community is essential!

Through our partnership with Parks Foundation Calgary, tax receipts will be issued for donations of $25 or more.
